Default JBR 1 long and drawn out.........

Well here we go. I can’t promise that it will be short. That will suit some people but not others. I am going to try to include some prices in this as this I find helpful myself.

The 30th of April arrived not without me wishing it here quick enough. We were leaving for the airport at 5pm so what to do with the day. We went to town had some lunch and then went to suze who was coming with us for a coffee. Then we all went to ours for a coffee and our friends who were there Diane and Tony rang to say everything was wonderful and they could not wait to see us. The excitement was building.

Eventually we were on our way to the airport. I was more excited because I knew that Suze’s Daughter Cathryn was going to meet us in Bangkok for the flight to Samui. She had been living in Australia for 6 months and Suze had not seen her or had any idea that she was coming. The last time Cathryn had seen her mum she had just had major surgery following cancer and I could not wait for Cathryn to see how well she was now.

We were flying business class with Qatar, Suze in economy. The check in was let down by frankly, how can I put this, an ugly dorky looking girl in a grey, should be white blouse and he gay counter part who had 20 malborough stuffed in his top pocket. The flights had cost us 1,200 each (GBP) and I was looking for a good return.

The business lounge at Manchester is nothing special. We boarded on time and were given champagne. The flight was wonderful, relaxing and fabulous food . The lounge for business class at Doha was exceptional. I had a shower, great after traveling, food drink staff personally came to tell you that you flight was ready for boarding. No queueing on to your own transport and back to the plane. More champagne, wonderful……..

We arrived at Bangkok and went to check in for our samui flight. I was now beginning to get really excited about Cathry but did not want the surprise spoilt for suze. We went to the gate where we had arranged to meet Cathryn. I could see her through the glass and hoped that suze did not spot her. I put my carryon luggage throught he xray machine and they pulled me ‘cos of my insulin needles …….at all times to do it I was worried about Suze seeing cathryn whilst we were faffing about. I was saying heatedly insulin, sugar , bawan, inject whilst making wild flaying movements with my arms imitating injecting. We finally got through. I said to suze that I had a surprise for her because she had been in economy. She said after that she thought that I had got her a bunch of flowers or something. When she saw Cathryn she burt into tears she could not stop hugging her and kissing her. It was very emotional. She could not believe it she was shaking.

We boarded our 45 min flight to Samui. The rain was lashing down, torrential. We were on a high by now. The plane seemed to be taking longer and all the time it was thundering and lightning and torrential rain out side. The captian can on and said that he was going to circle for 20 minutes to see if he could land. I was worried that they would take us back to Bangkok which they have been known to do. After 40 minutes he made a dash for it and aqua planned down the run way. We were in Samui !

The rain was relentless We were met by the amari and transported with 22 chinese tourist !!!!!!!!

Diane and Tony were waiting to meet us. We got our rooms and then ventured out. It was still teaming down and the roads were flooded and the bars and everything deserted. After talking to Suze for weeks about the delights of Thai food we ended up in burger king the only thing open. We went to blackjack bar and had a drink with diane and tony but by this time we were seriously flagging.

Back to the room, and the amari breakfast on my mind. Its fab couldn’t wait to sample it.

We went to bed after another shower that had been my 4th in 24 hours. Tomorrow was another day and I could not wait. It was going to be fine and sunny tomorrow wasn’t it ?!?!?

I like it when there's a cliffhanger at the end of a JBR installment.....

Smile I love JBR's

Oh Jax - just when it was getting to the good bit (I think you are a Just Back Report tease - LOL).

Oh the surprise must have been wonderful and I can only imagine the tenseness that you must have been feeling while they were fussing about with your insulin needles. I would have gone spare! And then they would have suspected something sinister about me and hauled me off - ha ha ha.

Cannot wait for the next instalment.......

back darl
