Default Glasses and Wool

2 unrelated questions

Is there somewhere at MBK where I can get prescription reading glasses?

Would the tailors in BKK have good quality woollen material for a winter coat?

I can recommend Eye Trends Room 51 6th floor of MBK near the food court. I have purchased several pairs of glasses from them over the past couple of years and found the service extremely good.
cheers

If you want transitional lenses that can take overnight, but if you want clear or dark it is done same day, so best go in the morning and come back in the afternoon.

HI

You can get your glasses done in a couple of hours at any one of several large optical shops on the ground floor of the MBK centre. You can take your prescription with you or have a free eye test before getting done. They have the latest equipment and I have found it be be very good. I have found cost to be very cheap cpmpared to Australian prices. Try and get in around 10am for late afternoon pickup. Make sure you get a quote before proceeding. They will ask for a deposit (cash or card ).

For the woollen coat there a two places I think are worth considering. Rajawongse on 130 Sukumvit road, just near the Landmark hotel - email them at jesse@loxinfo.co.th or check out their website. The other one worth looking at is Rajah's just around the corner and across the road from the Nana Hotel- (small unpretentious shopfront). Both are reputable places and the workmanship is first class. Prices will be similar at both places. Allow a couple of days for a good job and fitting. Be careful if you go to some of the others -there are a lot of very bad tailors around and you will be disappointed.

Cool Friend Optic in MBK!

Just back from Bangkok yesterday!

We sniffed around lots of the optical shops in MBK getting prices and settled on a great one called Friend Optic - on the first floor (ie up level up from the ground floor).

Walking from the Pathumwan Hotel towards Tokyu Dept Store it's on the far right hand side, closer to the Tokyu end.

We left our original glasses and in most cases it took a couple of hours to have new pairs made. Prices were fantastic - B1000 for frames AND lenses! We had several pairs made - both plain lenses and sunglasses. One of the great things about this place is that they stock original (ie expensive) frames and some really good fake ones too - so we got Gucci and Dior prescription sunglasses made in the faux frames, which look fantastic.

Their contact lens prices are amazing too ... I pay about $20 per lens in Melbourne for disposable two weekly lenses (and that's AFTER my HBA rebate!) and the identical lenses there work out to $6 each - and that was without even bargaining.

Friend Optic is highly recommended - the girls who work there are lovely and their quality and service is excellent.

Good luck!
