You dont need a visa for a country when you are just in "Transit",when you board your flight to Bangkok from India you are in no mans land unless you go through Indian customs!

I havent been to India for many years but on a then British passport I am sure they just stamped it and just let me through anyway?

My thoughts are the same as Fishys... that visas are not required if you're in transit.

FISHY... don't tell me you're a bloody POM

I believe that Jet airways is a budget airline and as such may/probably dont have an alliance with another airline which will mean collecting your luggage and "doing" immigration and then checking in for your outbound flight to bangkok,so i presume it would be easiest to contact the indian embassy for this info.

Jet is a scheduled airline and until recently were part of the star alliance .
I would check up on their current financial position as they are I believe privately owned company and like a lot more airlines having problems .
If you decide to fly buy ticket from one of the major consolidaters in the UK , who are pushing cheap flights with Jet , then you would be covered as they only sell ATOL tickets , or pay by credit card .
Just seen flights advertised in Saturdays papers through 3 different major consolidaters here in UK , all ABTA and ATOL bonded , check price through them and check visa , although as previous posts have stated you are in " Transit " and not officially in India .
