I am hoping someone can give me some advice please! I have a family member (my Dad) who is living in Thailand and is seriously ill in hospital and it's not looking too good for him. My sister is flying out there but because of the situation in Bangkok we are not sure what to do as she really needs to get out there like yesterday. We are in the UK and are wondering is there any other way she can get there, our only other option is that she flies to Singapore and takes the train to Bangkok which from what we can tell takes about 48 hours. Is this the only available option for her right now?

There are other airports open in Thailand such as Phuket and Chiang Mai, so why don't you try to check the possibilities of flying to one of these airports and then take it from there. If you do so it might be a good idea the book the train ticket or bus ticket at the same time to make sure that you can make it all the way to Bangkok.

While I'm writing this, it looks like the Bangkok International Airport may be returning to normal very shortly, but you have to check thoroughly at your airline office.

Cathy pacfic fly uk to hongkong- hongkong to phuket. Would be worth looking at singapore and then on to Samui.
