Default Help with KoLanta please

Hi all, after whats going we're now flying to Phuket on Wednesday instead of Bangkok tomorrow. Really dont like Phuket, prefer something quieter on the islands.
As we dont want another day of travel getting to KoChang/KoMak, we've decided to spend our time on KoLanta.

Can anyone tell us about experiences of Lanta -different beach scenes-mid priced bungalow recommendations? Any other islands within that group that you'd recommend?

I have stayed at the Lanta seahouse in 2002 & 2007...lantaseahouseresort.com, it is really close for town, clean and really nice staff...they even remembered us from our previous trip!!! You can get all sorts of day trips from Koh Lanta.. Koh Lanta is now like what Koh Samui was like in the late 80's...with more and more resorts, bars etc springing up. Make sure you find the Roti man...he hung outside the school...yummmmmy.

On the seafront to the left is a great restaurant called Lanta seafood.. fresh fish at the front...it is the second one with the fish...I am sure you wont be disappointed. When I was there last year there were no McDonalds or any other fast food places. I sure hope they stay away....

Have fun

Koh Lanta is much quite than Phuket for sure, I'm sure many resorts are still room for you. Beach at Lanta will make you love it.

Thanks you indeed that you still visit my country at this circumstance.

Not Lanta but still a beautiful area of Phuket and in a quiet area on a lovely beach... 10-15 minutes from Phuket airport.

We stayed recently stayed at the Naithonburi which is a really lovely hotel... we loved it there and highly recommend it. They also have complimentary airport transfers to and from the airport.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Geri

We really liked Lanta and stayed there this may.
Quiet and not at all like phuket. there is a very strong Muslim influence. most of the people who work there are from there and this is different to other places where people come from all over.
There is a market/fair on nearly every night for the locals mainly and this was really good, good food and cheap chang!
