Default First time to Phuket

Would like some feedback on Novotel and Meridian in Patong. We are 60 year olds who like good accommodation, but not too far from the shops. Also would like to know cost of taxis, in Patong.

Hmm from what I can recall I didn't actually see any taxis in Patong. They use Tuk Tuks (open air kind of small mini buses) and the price can be bartered for prior to commencing your trip.

I think the absolute most we paid to get anywhere at all in Patong was about $5 aussie which is a bargain and let's face it, at the end of a long day/night, who wants to walk for $5!

Have a ball - I just know you will. Patong is beautiful!

There are indeed taxis in Patong -all over Phuket ..just be sure it is a real one preferably with a meter otherwise you will be bargaining a price without i guess a lot of idea as to regular price and also if it is a non' legal' ie non licensed taxi the cops will pull him over in the regular check laybys and you will be asked to help out financially!!!I have talked my way out of this one ,out of kindness,in the past assuring the cop it was my 'friend 'driving me ..but a bit naughty of me ..much the same situation all over Asia ..locals try to use their private cars to earn extra $$$$ and some rort tourists blind...
