Two weeks and we will be back in LOS!

I’m travelling with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Debra, who made her first trip to Bangkok with me (and a group of crazy girlfriends) two years ago. I’m a bit of a “veteran” - grew up in Hong Kong and spent regular holidays in Thailand, and as an adult, I’ve been every year for the past ten (or is it 12?) - I just love it so much and whenever it’s time to decide on holiday destinations, I find it really hard to go anywhere else!

Back in July last year, Debs and I managed to book those ridiculously low fares when Jetstar launched their international services … and now after all those months, it’s nearly time to head off. We paid $347 Melbourne-Bangkok return each, which is a fabulous price. I’ll be sure to post a JBR and let you know what we think of Jetstar … needless to say for that price we are expecting a pretty low-frills sort of experience, and I gather you have to buy drinks, food, blanket, pillow etc - but there is a “free water fountain on board” - let’s see how much they charge for paper cups!

We are literally going for a long weekend - we arrive Thursday night and head off again on Monday night - staying at Pathumwan Princess again, which we love for its location and lovely poolside - hard to beat for a short trip, and although the rooms are a bit “tired” (especially in comparison to the newly renovated public areas, which are very flash) but we won’t be spending much time in our rooms, and it’s just such a fun place to stay.

This trip is purely eating, drinking, pampering - we are not doing anything touristy or adventurous - just visiting our favourite restaurants, and catching up with a couple of very good friends who live in Bangkok (lucky things).

My three fave restaurants in Bangkok are Harmonique, Jim Thompson’s House and Baan Chiang - and I must admit we just tend to go back there all the time! We have a strict “Thai food only” policy - especially for such a short trip - and even breakfast has to contain a regulation amount of chilli or other Asian element! We’re trying a new place on the Friday night - no name, but our Thai friend describes it as “an authentic local place near the Conrad Hotel” - stay tuned for my review once we’re back.

Anyway, we’re very excited and can’t WAIT to get there!

Am sure the flight will be fine, to be honest I;d be happy hanging onto a wheel if it got me out of eastbourne!!!!
