Bali Palm Hello out there

Hi everyone. The first post; we are old farts who retire this year but are recycled teenagers at heart.Been to Bali about a dozen times and thought a change was due and have booked for Phuket in early July.We wanted to go to BKK but thought we would cut our teeth on Phuket first.Love all Asian food and plenty of good red wine, but when hot a beer or two will do.Will be asking a million questions in the next couple of months
Regards

Oh welcome aboard! Glad to see new people finding the forum. There are lots of people here with oodles of knowledge about Thailand so feel free to ask as many questions as you need as we are all quite friendly and rarely do we bite

Default Whoops! bangkok!

Meant to Say......Bangkok is a must!!!

Always try and get back there! We quite like the riverside area as the backstreets and food vendors are top notch (behind the shangri-la), once you get over the heat and the general bonkersnous (is that a word?) of the place its great fun!!!!

Default First post

Gidday from Melbourne, sound like a person after me own heart.
Am going over to Phuket in June with a bunch of Aussies, 3rd time we love Thai food good cold beer and red wine.
The only problem I found is that most places are BYO wine, and whilst you can find wine in 711 and other outlets (if you look hard) it costs an arm and leg. Australian wine is rare and over the top on price. Before going out for dinner we usually put the red in the fridge as by the time we eat its OK, cause over there its hot damn hot, although you might be used to it coming from Perth.

Hi Chris,

Please tell me more about the backstreets behind the Shangri-La. We are staying at Centrepoint which is right there, we leave Australia 3 weeks from today. Is there any particular place you would recommend. Anything else you can tell me about the area, can you walk to Chinatown from there.

Thank you
Colleen
