Default Insects

Probably a really daft question but are there alot of big creepy crawlys around in thailand?

Not really, flies are few & far between, you rarely see spiders, probably mosquitos are the only insect pest you're likely to notice. Just use a repellent and you'll be OK.

You might see some very large ones around the bar areas trying to sell you things you don't want!

If you go out into the countryside you get quite a few milipede worm type things and cicadas, I've seen plenty of big spiders out there too. There are also LOADS of little lizards, but I think they're rather nice!
Also if you are in the countryside you do sometimes get scorpions.

I've probably told it in the worst way here - bear in mind that I am terrified of spiders and insect like things and I live here and I love it, never had any problems.
