Default What's the situation in Bangkok at the moment??

We arrived in Bangkok tonight (Tuesday).
We were a bit concerned to hear of the unrest yesterday - especially seeing Australian govt has increased its travel warnings for Thailand - We started wondering what we might find when we got here.

At airport checkin, we couldn't get seats near the front so assumed flight must be fairly full, but there were lots of rows with only one person! Cancellations?????
(no problem ....it just meant that service was even quicker and better than Thai Airways' usual high standard.)

I was wondering if we'd be diverted (I thought Samui might've been nice !) but landed in Bangkok without any delays.
Queues at immigration were very short (unusual I must say).

On the trip from airport to our hotel downtown, we saw nothing to inidicate there was anything unusual goiing on (but perhaps a bit late at night so will post here after Í've been out tomorrow).

Default Bangkok

I'm due to fly into Bangkok on Friday Morning, so am keen to hear from any one who is there at the moment like the post above. I'm still quite confident that there will be no problems towards farangs.

But I could be wrong ??

Given that Thai Airways are heavily advertising specials for Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday leaving MEL-BKK (low season and prior to the recent troubles) ... I'm assuming those flights were not fully booked anyway.

I know our popular Friday night flight is almost fully booked.

I was reading on Phuket Gazette that 50% of the Japanese had cancelled their flights... not us, as we is still coming.

Cheers Geri
