Without knowing details of your preferred area or your budget, it's a broad question and some places suggested may not suit, but I'll start the ball rolling.............

1. Somerset Lake Point on Sukhumvit 16.
Not near to skytrain but they have a free 'on demand' tuk-tuk service which takes you to the nearest station - about 5 minutes' ride. Apartments range from studio to 3 bedroom - all have kitchens/kitchenettes and balcony. The ones with separate bedrooms are of a good size. Breakfast has the usual options. Good pool. Tariff starts at around 2000baht.

2. Somerset Suan Park View - in the Chitlom area.
A quiet neighbourhood near embassies. A few minutes walk to the skytrain. Very nicely appoiinted apartments and of good size. Balcony only big enough for the aircon unit/s. Good breakfast, good restaurant. More expensive than Lake Point (in 3000 baht + range for 1 bedroom) but more upmarket.

3. Saladaeng Colonnade - in Soi Saladaeng which runs off Silom Rd. About 10 minutes' walk to skytrain. A quiet establishment in a busy street (motorbikes, taxis) but close to the action. Nice enough apartments with kitchenette. - no breakfast room so breakfast delivered to your room - adequate. About 3000baht for a 1 bedroom apartment.

4. Further down this soi, there are more - (Chin House, Centrepoint Saladaeng ). Even though further from BTS, lots of tuktuks and taxis pass all the time.

For 1, 2 & 4 check the online booking agents.... asiatravel, sawadee, wotif, asiarooms. For 3, you can book direct by doing a google search for their phone number and giving them a call.

5. You could try Saladaeng Place - very close to Silom Rd. Nice spacious rooms (even studios are large and have lounge suite and kitchenette). Good outdoor pool and terrace. Breakfast varies from adequate to poor. This is an 'adult place' with mostly gay clientele. Tariff around 3000 baht.

I've stayed in all of these in the past 18 months, so if you want any more details, just ask.

Hi deebs,
I posted a detailed reply to your request, but got 'timed out' before I could post. Now my post has to be approved by a moderator before it can be posted here.

Mark can something be done about this timing out? Seems we don't have enough time to post responses.
I can't retrieve my message by using the back button so can't simply re-post it.

Unhappy Hi Kimbo

There are no messages in the queue. This is a recurrent problem I am trying to ascertain what causes it. Are you using Internet Explorer? It seems only to happen with IE. I will get to the bottom of this though I promise

Hi Mark,
Yes.........I used internet explorer.
But something weird here - I got timed out, couldn't retrieve my post so checked the forum and it wasn't there either so I wrote the second message explaining the problem. That appeared as message no. 2 in the thread.
Now I've come back tonight and looked and my original post is there as No. 2. Weird!
