Chris
Have you thought about Jomtien Beach about 10 mins out of Pattaya which is about an hour and a half from the new airport ??.
We are staying at the Rabbit Resort in Oct/Nov and booked direct with the lovely owner Mrs Rabbit and got great rates... it gets fabulous reviews from trip advisor. The owner Deb is a delight to deal with.
The Rabbit looks and sounds wonderful with lots of restaurants within walking distance if you don't want to go into Pattaya... might be just what you need after sampling the delights of "Brisvegus" as they call it. Hope your going down to Sydney... I think Sydney for a holiday is fabulous. Enjoy...
Cheers Geri

Default What about Hua Hin?

Don't need a plane to get there. About 2 1/2 to 3 hours by road, or you can even get a train there.

Check out the Hyatt. Lovely location and awesome pool.

Excellent range of restaurants in Hua Hin. Lovely feel to the place.

Also, if you wanted to you could rent an apartment on the beach .. check out Baan Chaitalay. It's next door to the Hyatt.

Cost you about 100 baht to get in to central Hua Hin .. about 5 minutes away. No tuk tuk mafia here!

Default Why not try Krabi

We all say never again after a bad experience but there is something about ThHailand that drags us all back

You go find somewhere in or around Ao Nang. The town itself has lots of places to eat, drink and watch the world go by. No sandy beaches at the end of hotel gardens, you need to go a bit further out of town, and pay more, for that.

We have been to the Golden Triangle area in the North a couple of times and found that really interesting but not if you want to relax as you have to get out and about to see things. Can give you more info on that if you want.

I just love the planning part - it's the decisons I hate!

Default Eva special offer

Chris, can you let me know what the special offer from Eva Air was and where you got it from? Was it Premium Laurel again?

Default HI Ho!

Thanks for the advice! We're still trying to plan the air routes!

Sounds lame but bought a world map (laminated)

Some whiteboard markers....

a lot of beer

a few airline brochures

and drew lines over it with the air-routes, and stopver points and did the ' how about here..........gah no'..................okay these fly here...........' are u mad?? '..........................i need a beer (several later)...................' where are you pointing to now?.,..........thats the middle of the pacific.............!!!!'

Map now looks like bizarre art project, woke up next morning to find dog footprints through china in red marker and sharks fins drawn in the ocean............so much for a serious attempt at holiday planning!

EVA AIR wise! we had a complaint with them a while back and as we've flown premium laurel twice ina year have racked up a few points so theyve offered us a discount if we fly with them again.....maybe worth it!!!!!

Went passed Thomson holiday shop yesterday and the shazza and kev brigade were outside chanting ' we're all off to pooooooooket yayyyy' say no more!
