I think it's easier for you to have a night at Patong first, and arrange a boat ticket to PP from a tour shop at Patong. They will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and transfer you to the boat jetty. It's a bit complicated to just do it all yourself from the airport. And it would be very difficult trying to line up your arrival in time for boat departures.

Another option to get to Phi-Phi is via Krabi. It is easy to get from the Airport to the boat harbour or you can spend a night in AoNang and catch the ferry from there. The beaches on Phi-Phi vary greatly in terms of tourist infrastucture and beach quality. Ton Sai is where the main ferry terminal is and it is the beach that attracts the most tourists. If you want nightlife, then this is the beach for you but it is far from the nicest beach on Phi -Phi. If you want somewhere quiet with a few local restaraunts and bars but no real nightlife, then I would recommend the Holiday Inn or the Phi-PHi Island Village. The beach at both these resorts are nothing short of idyllic paradise but it is a long trek by long tail boat if you want to go to a late night venue. The other option is Long Beach which is very nice and much closer to Tonsai (about 10 min and 70 baht by long tail boat). I havn't stayed at any of the resorts there but we used to go there from Tonsai to spend the day as the beach was much nicer. We stayed at Bayview resort at the end of Tonsai and found it reasonable but proberbly wouldn't go back.
An alternative to Phi-Phi is Railay Beach which was a short walk to the nicest beach I have ever seen, had reasonable nightlife and is a short boat ride from Ao Nang if you want to do some shopping. I would return there before Phi-Phi any day. Maybe you should consider both.

Good idea, get there from Krabi. Unless you're flying into Phuket on an international flight you could change your plan and fly into Krabi airport instead and then get to PP from there.

Can you travel from Phuket airport to Kho Samui other than by plane or is it miles?

It takes about half a day to go to Samui from Phuket by road. From Phuket airport I think the only means of transport available would be to charter a taxi and that's expensive, you could take a taxi to Phuket bus station and get a bus to Samui. Depends what time of day it is.

Default How to get to phi phi from phuket airport

Best way and cheapest way is to get a minivan from Phuket Airport to Phuket town for 100 B. Then head to any travel agent to book your ferry ticket. It's advisable to check out a few places to get the best price. I went to a few agents next to the Phuket bus station and got a return ferry with land transfers for 550 B.

DO NOT purchase ferry ticket directly from the pier. It seems like it is run by just one company who have a monopoly there. They charge 600B for 1-way or 1000B for return, and this does not include land transfers.

Hope this helps.
