Default Urgent Help regarding transit at Suvarnabhumi

hi,
I have a flight from KTM ( Nepal) to Bangkok to Las Angeles with Thai airlines
my Transit time at Bangkok is 1 hour. it is like i reach Bangkok at 06:20 pm and the Los Angeles Flight Leaves at 07:20
i would do my baggage a check through till Los Angeles. i have not been to bangkok before and i do not know about the airport.
could you guys kindly help me as after i land at BKK then do i need to go to Transfer Desk or i can just rush towards the gate which is in my boading pass?
would the Gate be on the same level and would i be able to reach the gate in 1 hour?
do i need to do the immigration?
i have heard that the suvarnabhumi airport is big so would i be able to reach my gate straight away in 1 hour?
it would be very kind of you if you could help me out and let me know the details if i missed something out
regards
Navin

You'd really be better putting these questions directly to Thai airlines or your travel agent, it's their responsibility to see that your connections are possible. However, only one hour strikes me as being a bit too tight, planes are frequently delayed for an assortment of reasons, but planes do frequently wait for late-arriving passenger coming off a connecting flight.
If you do arrive at BKK on time there's no need to do immigration, just head straight to the nearest information counter and show them your boarding pass and they'll direct you to the correct gate. You'll need to move fast and not dillydally.

I have never done International transit in the new airport but in my opinion 1 hour isn't enough time for any transit flights when you have to change planes.

If you take in to consideration that you cant just hop of a plane the second it lands and jump on another just before it takes off then you really have a lot less than 1/2 an hour to make it to your next flight

Bangkok airport is big but not hard to negotiate in my opinion and they should have a transit through path but 1 hour?

I have almost missed domestic plane changes in Australia with just 1 hour and thats with knowing the airports.

It is better that you are doing it all with Thai airlines .

I dont like to live on the edge when flying international .

You may have to be screened even in transit as the new airport has xray machines at each boarding gate unlike some that have one check point for all gates.

I think they may have trouble transferring your baggage in 1 hour?

Yeah, I think you'd better get back to Thai airlines and see if you can get an earlier flight, arrive at Bangkok earlier in the day and have a couple of hours browsing around the shops. Better still get to BKK the day before and treat yourself to a night on the tiles.

I really enjoyed my extra time in Bangkok. The shops are really interesting, so try to get your flight in the morning, if at all possible.
