Cool Used to sit in a bar

on Soi Bangla in Pastong (Phuket) opposite the lady boy area maybe every 6 months or so with friends and have a good laugh;

a) At the newly arrived families with 6 year old children expecting the brochure portrayed "Emerald of the Andaman" finding instead a bunch of transvestites hussling for money and hearing "Daddy, what is that funny looking woman doing?"

b) At the tourists who would have pictures taken with these guys in garb thinking it was a free deal only to be attacked en mass for some $ after!

c) At the number of western men, normally well drunk, new to Patong and in search of a "lone" Thai female thinking the lady boy zone was more lady than boy and ended up "pulling" there. I always wanted to find out what happened when a certain discovery was made but a weak stomach prohibited watching any closer! Check the larynx and gastrocnemius (calf muscle) before you let your hands go a wandering gents!

Speaking of which, my buddy in Phuket has recently landed himself a job photographing lady boys in the buff for an online subscription site. Bar steward did not tell me what his new job was and just sent me a web link to his work; no breakfast for me that morning. To him (not that way inclined, I am pretty sure) it is just a job. For me, I would rather eat rats.

Speaking of which: Nice girls from a distance

When something looks too good to be true in Thailand it often is but there's no point trying to explain this to most middle-aged or old men. However, I sometimes take pity on wide-eyed innocent young men (especially if they're nice and quite cute themselves) and take them on "how to spot a katoey" educational tours down Nana. This little outing is usually enough to warn them that appearances can be deceptive with any woman they meet in LOS...even wee old wrinkly ones.

Sometimes ...quite often in fact...the larynx has been surgically shaved (together with other bits too maybe) and many katoeys have stunning legs, not to mention very unbelievably stunning tits and bottoms. A quick grope of the calf muscle might not be enough. It's amazing what surgery and hormones can do these days. Usually they haven't got round to fixing the masculine jaw bone or rather large hand and feet size though.

There was a guy in an apartment a few doors down from mine in BKK who lived with a blond katoey GF ...he said he couldn't tell the difference between her and any other Thai girl but then he did come from Iceland and had a worse than usual alcohol problem.
