Did you check each day? Many airlines operate a few flights per wk, not daily.

Default fly hua hin

you really may as well drive, it's only 2-3 hours tops and by the time you go to B.kok airport, check in, fly, get out of Hua hin airport, you will have spent the same amount of time.

Default Hui Hin

Yes I would drive also, I figured it was too expensive to fly from Hui Hin to Airport only to have to go to the other airport (2 in Bangkok) also same issue with taking a bus, getting to the station and then from station to airport, so I got a cab for only 2000 baht which was cheaper than the flight.....

my question was regarding flying DIRECT from samui to hua hin with bangkok air , as per an article in the hua hin observer .
this would be quicker than any other option .
still cannot find a definative answer if hua hin airport is open , even posting question on the observer forum brings no joy .

Have you looked into getting the ferry coach combo ticket from samui to Hou Hin?

I will do it this way if ever I went back to Samui.

2 companies run the service "Seatran" and "Lompryha" with lompryha having the newer faster cat ferries.

You are picked up at your hotel in Samui to the pier in Maenam, where you do 30 mins to Koh Phangang,1 1/2 hours ? to Koh Tao, 2 1/2 hours to Chomporn pier on the main land and then 2 or 3 hours to Hou Hin by coach!

We did the first class sleeper train/coach/ferry in early June and loved it (Sick of flying,Plus Tracey refused to get back on one of those twin prop planes? She was terrified) But f I had seen the ferry coach ticket before buying the train ticket I would have done it as its quicker.

You can stop off at Koh Phangan and Koh Tao on the same ticket if you fancy Island side trips and the ferries have food and films showing.

Total cost 800bht each. It will take you almost as long to get to Suratani if you want to fly to hou Hin.

In june I only see flights to BKK and Phuket advertized.

The Samui/Hua Hin route is one of several proposed routes that Bangkok Airways have postponed until the future price of oil becomes clear.

We've just come back from Hua Hin and apparently very few people use the airport as the flights are vey expensive. Mainly business people from what we heard.
