Default Online flight bookings and Khao Lak

A few years now since our last trip to Thailand. Can someone pls advise the cheapest way to fly from Perth to Phuket? On the back of a seagull would be a good response to that one, but naturally I mean airlines.
Mark, there was a hotel with tree huts for accommodation on the far side of Khao Lak that you were very keen on, but I can't remember the name. Can you pls remind me? Hopefully, it wasn't wiped out in the tsunami, but if so hopefully rebuilt.
Alternatively, accommodation recommendations in Khao Lak would be appreciated. Prefer bungalows to concrete storey buildings. Thanks.

Dont know about cheap from Perth!

Tiger airlines does a cheap fare to Bankok via Singapore, but the wait at Singapore airport (not the big airport) can be up to 7 hours for a connecting flight! It looks cheap but when you add up all the taxes you are only saving a couple of hundred because you have to book each flight seperate and pay more tax!

Royal Brunai do some great deals from Perth via Bandar seri Bagwan(sp) We have flown twice to Bangkok this way, with the last costing $650 inc taxes.(I think fuel surcharge and higher tax has put a stop to their really cheap flights) And you dont arrive in Bangkok untill 11 or 12 pm.

We always get the cheapest flight via www.zuji.com then challenge Flight center to match it,which they always do.

But to be honest $900-950 Au from Perth direct to Thailand in 7 hours (6 Phuket) With Thai airlines cant be beat!

Student Travel STA do some cheap flights but you need a valid student or teacher card.

Have a look on zuji, they have the cheapest flights I have found and have saved me quite a bit over the past few years.

Default Tiger

Thanks Den. I did have a look at the Tiger schedules and if I remember rightly you can go directly from Singapore to Phuket and I think it worked out at about $700,but didn't check the flight times. You're probably right, we're not on a strict budget so comfort and ease are as big a prerogative. I think Royal Brunei are stopping their flights to Bali.

The cheapest is def tiger airways, leave perth 9.30 pm arrive sing 3 am depart to phuket about 8 am.We are doing this tomorrow night and return flights is costing about $620 inc 5kg extra baggage on the way back.
Brunei has flights but more expensive and some flights have a wait in brunie of about 11 hours, and thai can fly you direct to phuket but on the return you fly to bkk and then back to perth, not sure of the lay over in bkk.

Yes I knew there was a bit of a wait in Singapore(5 hours) thats why i didnt use Tiger,to me its better to pay the extra and do the morning flight with Thai. I have done too many red eye flights and they just make me tired! With the Tiger flight I would miss out on a nights sleep and end up sleeping most of the day away.

My brother did it with Tiger last year and said the seats were too small and close together and wouldnt do it again.

I did Bruni in 2004 and 2005 once with a stop for 2 hours the next with a 4 hour but they fed us for that one.(horrible airport)

I like the flight I have got with Thai because of the times, It leaves Perth at 8 45 in the morning and gets to Phuket around 2 in the afternoon. on the way back we leave BKK at 1120 at night so gives us an extra day in BKK.

The last few times we have caught the early flight from BKK 7am I think, but you have to get up really early to get to the airport in time or stay a night in one of the hotels near the airport, same as Bruni they left at 7am.

So the Thai flight is worth the extra just to travel at the right times,or should I say that suits me.

Also thai flights are cheaper mid week Tues and Sunday I think?,flying out of Perth at 4pm arriving around midnight and flying back home but leaving BKK 7 am,they dont stop at Phuket though.

What time do you leave Thailand and connecting time back to Perth?

I must be getting old because a few years ago I would have taken the cheapest.

Den

Default Roo-Ted - Tiger cost

Were your flights singles or a return? Read somewhere recently that 2 singles can actually work out cheaper some times. Enjoy your trip. We're off to Bali next Saturday.

I just had alook at the Tiger site and it has got better but the flight for same dates in May and June that we got with Thai, cheapest $845.71

$54 odd cheaper than Thai! But they do Phuket both ways.

You would have to look out for the Tiger specials to get it really cheap

Have fun in Bali.
