Ho misskezz, where have you been??? no posts from you in aaaages.
Yes Geri is correct - you need to be a silver member to get the extra baggage allowance. To be a silver member you need to accrue a certain number of flight miles within a set length of time (I forget exactly how many, but equal to several long-haul trips )

Hey there Kimbo :)

I know, I have been quite slack haven't I? Hmm that's love for you, makes you do odd things. Yes, I am in love and loving it :)

Well just 12 short weeks to go for me and off to the beautiful Patong (ahhh...bliss). Hope you have been keeping well. I am once again enjoying reading all the posts and whetting my appetite for my travels. I so cannot wait. This time we are staying put in Patong and travelling out from there to visit surrounding places (any suggestions welcome).

As there are many conflicting views of what Thai airways luggage limits are, I wrote to them and asked them. This is their reply "word for word" (lets see if its any clearer to you, as its certainly NOT to me!!!)

"Please find informations below regarding luggage conditions and restrictions. Please note that weight and piece system whichever that may apply to your booking is also printed on your ticket/e ticket. These are guaranteed as your checked in luggage and hand carry. If any extra weight allowed at each ports is based on the flights weight and airport controllers discretion. Therefore this can only be subject to space available of each flights. Thai Airways flights out of Sydney Airport we advise 25kg for checked in luggage any more would be up the airport controller advise on the day of the flight."

The email then goes on to list the official weight and size limits as are on their website.

So .... as I said, I am no clearer to what the limits are. Im certainly no frequent flyer and have little knowledge of these things. But ... it would seem to me that it is all "up to the airport controller" and "subject to space available on each flight"!!!!! To me ... this seem lludicrous and extremely random. I guess the only way we cd be safe is to stick to the 20/7kg limits!!!

Cheers! 'Kitty Kitty
