So... It has finally arrived! We leave TOMORROW!
So many emotions at the moment! Excited, overwhelmed... nervous (very nervous, I'm not a good flyer at the best of times.. and my longest flight to date is 1 hour!!)
Just wanted to thank everyone for their help! Its been so helpful and I feel much more prepared now than I did before coming on to this forum- which is great!
I’m excited to come home and tell you all about our travels in my JBR (juicy big read, lol kitty)
Thanks again for all your help everyone!
Grace

| | Yes Grace ... its TOMORROW! Your time has come ... and Im sure you are better prepared from the forum - its GREAT!
So ... are you flying Thai or not? If you are ... remember their luggage limits are not what they seem ... 30kg flying out and 25kg flying home. Im pretty sure if I was going Phuket again (and not with a BKK stop) Id fly Jetstar, not necessarily because they are cheaper, but mainly to save time. Im pretty sure they are the only one that does a direct flight into Phuket, so not only do you save on the extra hour or so flight from BKK to PHK, but also you dont have 2 hours extra hanging around waiting at BKK airport.
Yes ... JBR was a mystery to me for a while ... didnt know what it meant ... people kept mentioning it, so Im making up all these acronyms (all of which were wrong!) and then my curiosity got the better of me and I JUST HAD TO ASK ... Think I asked Jax. Anyway ... for me a JBR is many things - a "just back report" OR a "juicy big read" OR a "just bloody riveting" or I guess whatever you want it to be!!! I also made a right fool of myself for not knowing what IMHO meant. Someone had posted "Central is IMHO the best Department Store in BKK". ME - I got all excited thinking there was this wonderful Dept. Store called "IMHO" that I hadnt read about .....
Dont be nervous about flying ... that is unless you are prone to migraines! Just think of it as 9 x 1hr flights! You will be there before you know it. Kitty
PS Hanging for your JBR! |

| | No need to feel nervous about the flight, when I left Perth last week there were the newspapers to grab when you entered the plane and I picked up a Woman's Weekly, sat back with my MP3 player listening to Bob Dylan and The White Stripes and doing the puzzles in the Weekly.
Central department Stores are excellent, as are the Super Stores like Lotus, Big C, CarreForre. Look in those place first before you hand over your hard-earned dosh to the greedy buggers at the street stalls. |

| | Bob Dylan >>> Any mention of Bob Dylan and Im there!!! Just cant get enough of him, have liked him since high school. I was disappointed on my trip that the movie "Im not there" was not yet out on dvd, as I didnt even get to see it at the pics, Wollongong obviously thought there was no market and did NOT screen it down here at all - I WAS NOT HAPPY!!!
Ive only seen him 3 times in concert - last time was last year in Sydney and we had gr8 seats, right up the front.
Anyway ... nice to meet another fan ... Kitty |

| | Grace ... I forgot to mention that if youre flying Thai, they have these gr8 screens in each seat, with heaps to do to keep you amused and while away the time, lots of latest movies to watch, tv shows, games to play, music etc. It keeps kids (and adults!) amused for hours and hours. Its only the Sydney to BKK and return planes that had these, the BKK to PHK ones didnt, but thats only about an hour and 20 minute flight.
PS. where are you staying in Phuket again, and where else are you going? Kitty |

| | Hi All!
Not flying Thai- we got really cheap flight with Jetstar (booked them in November- cost about $1300 all up for us both- include video on demand and meals each way).
As far as itinerary goes we are staying first 3 nights in Phuket (Thara Patong Beach Resort & Spa), the 4 nights in Krabi (Langham Place Eco Resort + Spa ) & then 8 nights in Koh Samui (Banana Fan Sea Resort Chaweng Beach) then fly home on the 16th.
My mother and Father in law have decided to join us in Koh Samui for the final 4 nights so cant wait to see them as well!
I’m a Dylan fan as well!!!! my dad came down for his concert last year and we all went to sydney show ( had crappy seats- jealous of your Kitty!). I loved it! couldn’t believe all the people that were walking out though....
YAY!! not long now:)

| | Hi Grace. How exciting. Jetstar are having a sale on travel to Bangkok in Oct-Dec, so this may be when we take our next trip! While you are in Samui, if you are interested in learning a bit about Thai cooking, I strongly recommend the course at SITCA(look them up on the net). It is not far from your hotel. I did several courses there last time we were in Samui and had a ball. In each session you will learn to cook 3-4 dishes and then you can be joined by family or friends in their upstairs restaraunt to polish off your wares. It fed our family of four quite comfortably and it was an unique experience. You could talk you Mother-in-law into doing it with you if you wanted some time away from the boys. Also, Samui Aquariam is worth a visit. They also have Tigers there and we got to bottle feed a baby Tiger last time and they seem to be better kept than the ones at Phuket Zoo. Try and do the Marine National park day trip from Samui and whilst in Krabi, you have to go to Phra Nang beach at least once which is around the corner from Railay beach.

| | Have a great trip! You should be able to open your own ebay store with all the goodies you bring back.
Try not to buy anything made of animal or plant matter and you wont get held up at customs on your return.
Dont drink too much on the plane, even if it is free, you will feel like C*** when you land if you do!
Dont brush your teeth with tap water, even if the hotel looks really spico, and you souldnt get any stomach problems.
Buy a fresh coconut from a market or from the street and get a barperson at one of your hotels to wizz it up into a milkshake (put in whatever you like duty free of coarse)Vodkaolada,Ginolada,Jacksolada,Beamolada ect
