Not really, perhaps Aerogard as it seems to work better than some of the Thai personal repelants. And Sun block as I know I can trust Australian standards.

Look for a printable conversion chart on the net, from dollars to Baht and Baht to dollars and carry it with you then you will know how much you are paying/spending with just a glance at the chart.

OANDA, The Currency Site: Foreign Exchange Services and Trading does one that goes up to $900 and Baht 9000,it is small enough to go in a wallet or purse and Tracey laninates ours.

You stick the chart s back to back and can easily convert back and forth within the dollar or Baht ammount you spend, really good for checking the ammount you should get when exchanging money.

forgot to say that if you use the above site go to FX cheat sheet, put in AU$ to TBht press convert then print, then click reverse icon and it will reverse the chart.

Hi Grace,
Last year we forgot to take our pocket calculator and had a hard time finding one in Kata and when we did I think it was dearer than in Australia. I always like to take a bum bag. I take books to read by the pool and have taken all of them to the book exchange and just swapped them for one book at the end of the holiday so I will have one to read on the plane. We take very small cartons of long life milk in case we are desperate for a cuppa and have used all of our fresh milk and can't be bothered to wait for room service, which can take an eternity sometimes.

laundry is so cheap--even if you're making multiple stops, they wash same day. we're talking going to laundry lady, not hotel service. We had nearly everything washed, ironed, folded for $7 US. 2 pr jeans, 2 pr khakis, all undies, 4 woven shirts, 4 tshirts, some socks. I know better now--and we each travel in one carry-on bag. Hotels have shampoo/cond and soap--email them if you're worried that they don't. I take small containers--hey, try shaving your legs/face with hair conditioner--it's perfect--silky and rinsable. All the other stuff you can buy sample sizes--don't open them beforehand and keep them in ziploc bags. No problems.

Yes Den, the conversion charts are great, I used the oanda ones as well. I did also take a calculator, just in case I lost the charts, and, as someone said, calculators are quite dear to buy over there. My friend didnt take one and bought one and I think it was about $4 or $5 dollars ... and then she lost it!!!

There are so many things that I already have on the "next time list" ... like def get all laundry done over there! def shop at Tesco Lotus FIRST! And all the other things we didnt get to do this time ... BUT lucky for me ... theres always a NEXT TIME!!!
