Default Honeymoon-Desperately want to visit Thailand

Greetings all,

I've been navigating this site and have found tons of information. But I was wondering if you guys can provide me with some tips. I desperately want to visit Thailaind for my honeymoon, but I am becoming a bit disillusion because travel packages are expensive. I am willing to plan my own trip, but it too seems overwhelming, so can you guys help me out. Our wedding is Sept 13 and I plan on going for about 12 days. However, I found that Thailand is huge so can you guys help me out in coming up with an itennerary (sp?)

Default The wet season

Unfortunately your wedding falls during the wettest month for Bangkok and lots of other places in Thailand as well. The rainfall is massive in some areas, however, don't let that put you off, as it usually doesn't rain constantly, most of the time it is for a few hours.

That is downside. Because it is the off season, that is upside for you, as accommodation will cheap and a few other things as well.

I would recommend Koh Samui for a week or so and accommodation won't be hard to find then as it is at the present time and it will be heaps cheaper as well.

Then Bangkok for shopping, the Grand Palace, maybe the Floating Market, a klongs tour, or whatever you fancy. Four days in Bangers should be ample time for shopping and traversing the sights.

Others will have more advice, but that is a start for you anyway.

If you are coming from Australia, I would firstly subscribe to Jetstar.com.au to be made aware of cheap flight offers. They have just finished a deal where it only cost $400 return per person to Singapore and from there you will be able to get a deal from any number of discount carriers. If you are coming from Europe/US, then I would constantly be checking for deals from local budget carriers. At that time of year, accomadation wont be a problem anywhere in Thailand so you can book that even days before you go, so arrange the fights first. Mid September is an awkward time as the Gulf side..Samui etc, is just going into the wetter season and the Andaman sea side...Phuket,Krabi etc is at the tail end of it's wettest time. I have been to both sides in September and still had plenty of sunshine but I would say you would have a better chance of good weather around Samui. That is assuming you want a beach holiday of course. Let us know a bit of info of what you would like to do and give us an approx accomadation budget and we can give you some more specific information.

Thank you guys for all the information. I am making sure to use it very well. If you can keep it coming I would greatly appreciate it. Preferably, I would like to have a relaxing time the first couple of days, maybe at some resort. We'll both need it from the wedding and the flight. After relaxing for a few days, I would like to enjoy some of Thailands beautiful splendors. As someone stated the maybe the floating market, some temples, a river ride...anything that you guys might suggest. I don't want to do too much traveling, so maybe 3 cities max. We are staying for about 12 day, and I can afford $4000 (dollars.)

I wouldn't go to Thailand for my honeymoon - too many distractions, while sitting having breaky with my new bride my eyes be wandering off onto some foxy Thai chick's ***. If it was me I'd go somewhere where the women are ugly, perhaps the Middle East, then I'd give my total attention to my darling bride.

That is a very very VERY strange thing to say...
I'd hope that wherever they choose to go on their honeymoon that her new husbands wandering eyes wouldnt be a issue? I dont think she would be marrying him if she had to keep her eyes on him every minute!
STRANGE.

Grace you will soon find out what Bobmac means!

I suggest they stay away from Pattaya (well most of it) . Not too good for any couple unless they have a pretty open mind.

We have plenty of vidio shots with the arguments going off big time between couples.

Dont let it put you off but have a look at "Walking Street" on youtube.

Mind you Tracey and I have been fine and we have been going there since 1991,but this time refuses to go anyewhere near the place.

Den.

Yeah Den, I seen plenty of these arguements too, especially at Pattaya. I was having a massage once when a big Russian woman stormed in and started blasting her hubby who was having a massage behind the curtain next to me. Where a lot of guys screw up is when they slip away from the wife and go around the bars they give the gals their real names, they next day when they're walking down the Walking Street with the farang wife the Thai bargals call out his name "Hey Bill, how you today? I miss you Bill"
Best to use a false name in the barsand then you can just ignore this.
