I am booked to travel to Phuket in September. My agent has arranged for a stay at La Flora Resort (which only opened last weekend I think). Has anyone seen or been to this resort? Any information would be most helpful.

Your resort is not actually on Phuket, it is on the mainland about 1 hour North, in a region called Khao Lak. This area was hardest hit by the Tsunami, so most of the resorts are new or have been rebuilt. It is a beautiful area from all reports (I have not stayed there) that would be suitable if you wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday. Most of the area's around the more established resorts have local communities with local bars and restaraunts but very little nightlife. It is a good area to access beautiful inland,coastal and marine national parks and some of the best dive and snorkelling locations can be easily accessed from there.

I beleive there is now a new La Flora Resort in Phuket as well as the one in Khao Lak. We stayed at the Khao Lak one in February and it was excellent. The rooms were very well equipt and spacious and the staff very friendly.
