Default newbie question

Greetings,

Going to Phuket end of June for a week for the first time. Family with 7 yo.

Flight Perth to Phuket and staying in the Kata Beach Area.

Is it better to take Transport from the Airport and organise from the Airport (if so, how do you do that???) or arrange with the Hotel for Transfers.

A friend who lives on Phuket is booking Accommodation. So transport/transfers will not be part of the Travel Deal.

thanks in advance.

Your best, and cheapest, option is to also have you friend hire a taxi to pick you up at the airport. It's easy for your friend to do, and real convenient to see a sign with your name on it picking you up as you come out of arrivals.

Just a thought.

Smile Thanks for the Taxi

advice. I will try and arrange for him to organize.

If there is a hiccup and the Driver is not there, any idea of costs from Airport to Kata Beach and where to pick up Transport at the Airport.

In Denpasar there is a fixed price Taksi Stand at the Airport. Is there something similar at Phuket??

Thanks

there are meter taxi's at phuket airport, although not advertised very much. on exit, go left and you will see signs saying taxi, it is a short stroll to the other side of parking lot where they are parked. price, less than 500, think 350 last time. much cheaper and faster than any other service. when returning to airport, ask your hotel to ring a meter taxi for you, or get the taxi driver's cell phone number that you used to get to airport. call him the day before for pick up, add an extra tip for that.50-100 baht, depending on his attitude and promptness. when going to kata, you should not pass patong or karon beach, if you do, he is taking the long way and pumping up the fair, but still cheaper and faster than anything else. good luck.

Ima Cheapest way is to get a metered taxi from airport, to Patong is around 450baht.

The taxis have moved, they are now on the right as you exit the airport. Directions and more info on the taxis are on my pages.
