I have been looking at the trains and it looks like a good option as it also goes past Cha am and stops in the center of Hou hin, you could get a mini bus quite cheap but with the train you have more time options, the trains look clean and modern and are very cheap.

There is 5 express trains per day from BKK to Hou hin, leaving from Hualamphong train station and one earlier diesel that takes a bit longer but you get fed on that one! Looks like about 3 hours on the express train so might take a bit longer by road.

WILL BOTH OF YOU JUST GROW UP!!!! Take your fight somewhere else, this is a travel forum, not a public debate. And if you cant be civil can you at least stop wasting forum space by continually quoting each other. If anyone is the least bit interested in the dynamics of your childish spat, I am sure that they are capable of scrolling up to see which insulting remark you are responding to.

JAX, I hope all is well. A taxi to Hua Hin cost me 1600 baht 2 years ago. You should be able to do it for around 2000 now I would imagine. THe train will definately take at least 4 hours, maybe more depending on stops. By road we did it in well under 3 hours, even with considerable traffic, from the old airport. At least an hour of this time was spent in escaping Bangkok. Public bus would be the cheapest option but is it worth the hassle?

A few years ago I was working in BKK and rented house in Cha Am for the weekends...ie I have done that route many times by bus, minibus and train ... but by all means take Fishtaco's advice if you want Jaxw.

OK I'm outta here... but before I go I'd say you'd be best taking a taxi jaxw.... about 2000B as Shanek says.

Default Time out needed!

Hey guys.

We all come on to the forum to give and receive advice and some of us have a lot more knowledge than others (I'm not one of them!). We all try and be helpful and posters take the bits of advice that suits them.

Fio is always really helpful and I think the reaction has been way over the top. Let's just end the thread as Jax has had her answer (BTW we're going by road as that's the quickest although not the cheapest) befoer anyone says anything that might get them banned.

I rarely travel by bus (except where there is no other means like to the Cambodia boarder) and mini buses are usually just too packed so will not comment on those. Both the train and a car/taxi/limo are the best way to get to Hua Hin in my opinion. The early morning 2nd class a/c coach (diesel rail car) leaves just after 8 and get into HH 3 hrs later. Cost around 382 baht.
The most comfortable way is by car which should take 21/2-3 hrs. Cost can vary but will be between 2400-3000 baht range. A good company is Oriental Escape - ::: HUA HIN TRANSFER & TRANSPORTATION SERVICE ::: Private Car & Van Pick-up from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport - Cha-am, Hua Hin, Pranburi which charges 2600 for car and 3200 for van.
