Question Jax....

Hi Jax,

Ive finally got Mark to want to try out Koh Samui, can you help us out please?

When over the next few months would be the best time for the weather? we want it v hot with loads of sea swimming etc.

Which beach is best like Kata/Kata Noi Phuket? We dont want Patong type beach!

Lastly, any recs on hotels near the suggested beach?

Cheers for your help, I see you are off again soon? I wish it were us!

Lamai for swimming and better beaches IMHO. The weather is very very hot and dry at the moment. Worst time for rain is nov, Dec and Jan can be iffy.
Look at sawadeedotcom they have reviews on there and give good details. I don't think that you will want to stop on Chewang it is a bit like patong except it is worth going in at night for the beach scene.
They call August Italian month.
Will be popping in whilst away.
Jamie samui can give you good advice as well.
If you don't mind it quieter there are loads of places and Samui is small and easy to get around.
There are some very good high class hotels and fab eating places.
What would your budget be for the accommodation?
I really think that you would like it. Another thing to do would be to spend some time on koh phangna avoiding the full moon parties of course.
