Default Trip: Phuket & Bangkok 28/3/08 to 8/4/08

Phuket stayed at Patong Beach Hotel in Phuket, 28/3/08 to 3/4/08 really central, pretty basic, first room up past coffee shop STUNK and bed was like a rock, approached manager who offered upgrade, we negotiated and had a better room and then up to a suite, extra $100AUD all up, all still pretty basic but clean, staff very friendly and helpful, only ate Breakfast in hotel but it was good, not sure if we would stay again as place really needs refurbishing.

Bangkok stayed at Siam@Siam Design Hotel, 3/4/08 to 8/4/08 which is very central to pretty much everything 5 mins walk to Tesco, MBK/Tokyu, bit further to Siam Centre, plenty of transport, Sky Rail station just near hotel.

Hotel is bit different to most in Asia has a 'Modern industrial' design/decor/feel, that is exposed concrete walls, skim plastered smooth ceilings and floors, timber floor in entry past bathroom to bedroom, large rug on concrete floor in bedroom, toilet floor tiled and bath wall tiled around bath, granite bench to basin.

Wall above bed has large mural which covered the whole wall, a bit different, food was good though only had 1 evening meal but we enjoyed the breakfasts.

Not a great range of programs on TV but we didn't go to watch TV, but better news program might help.

Band played in bar 'Party House 1' but while competent muso's mostly played obscure stuff and Hip Hop, not conducive to easy listening while having a drink or a late meal, conversation was almost impossible when sitting at the bar. There is a piano bar on the Lobby level and free Internet access for guests which was handy for checking email etc but very slow.

All Staff were great, helpful and friendly.

We would stay there again.

20 years since last in Bangkok and 15 since last in Phuket, can't believe the changes.
