Default Dental Work in Bangkok

Does anyone have any information about dentistry in Bangkok? I need dental implants. I understand it's a complex procedure with risks. So, getting optimal treatment is a must for me.

Thanks,
Andy

All the well-known hospitals (Bumrungrad, BNH, Bangkok Hospital etc) have good dental departments or you could try a large specialized dental centre like the BIDC Thailand Dentists - Bangkok Dental Clinics and Bangkok dentist

Thanks Fio, I used your info and sent emails to several clinics. Are the clinics all about the same quality? Is one known as better than the rest?

I'd say all the places I mentioned provide very high quality service but if it were me I think I'd choose the BIDC as it's a large clinic specialized only in dental work.

I usually go to Smile Clinic near the British Embassy for routine stuff like fillings and cleaning but I did have a molar root canal and crown done at the BIDC a couple of months ago. It has state of the art equipment and very highly trained dental surgeons who are specialists in particular areas of dentistry (like implants) ...I certainly have no complaints about the quality of the work they did for me. Remarkably painless, fast and efficient and the crown fits perfectly.

I've been going to Bangkok Smile Dental opposite the British Embassy for the past 11 years. Two years ago I had two ceramic crowns inserted. Two visitations and a perfect job. Remember this: for a molar implant you will need at least two appointments. One for x -rays and mouldings to be taken, then several days for the implant to be made by the laboratory. So best to go to Bangkok first, have the exploratory examination, then holiday somewhere in Thailand (Chiang Mai/Phuket/Samui), then return to Bangkok for the insertions of the implants.

The dentist that I have been going to at Bangkok Smile did her initial training at the nearby Chulalongkorn University, then did her advanced degree (MDA) at Otago University in New Zealand.

My two ceramics cost me around $AUD375 in total two years ago. The best quote here in Melbourne was $2200 plus GST!!!!!!!!!!

The final decision re where to have the work done was a no brainer.

Agreed, the price differential makes it a no brainer. Except, it's a long way back to the dentist from North America if something goes wrong! Hence, the need for references. Thanks for your reference.
