Red face Thailand in June..

Hei everyone!

I'm planning on going to Thailand for a month from 2nd. June till 1st. of July. I've been in Thailand before, mostly doing some wildlife volunteer work, but i also visited Bangkok, Koh Chang, Hua Hin and Cha-am, this was in January 06 so i believe the weather was a littlebit different then and everything.. so this will be a verdy different kind of trip.

Im planning on kinda go backpacking around wherever the road leads me, but im wondering what the weather is like around in thailand in June? I know it's monsoon season, but i've heard its only raining for like a couple of hours a day and stuf.. how is this really?

I dont want to live very cheap, but maybe combine cheaper places and pricier places.. travel around and have fun. I'll be travelling some time with friends and som time alone.. any ideas/tips/recommondations etc?

Thank you!

Samui area is still good in june, pattaya can be really good or bad in june july I have had both,Koh Samet and Ban pha I think gets the least rain along with Pattaya, but the crossing to Samet can get quite rough and windy some days so you have to take your life in your own hands when crossing on a fishing boat ferry.

Koh Chang I think isnt good this time of year and the ferry is limited.

I think the main rain starts in Phuket around october so should be ok there.

I have never botherd with the weather patterns because it hardley ever rains all the time, fine one min rain the next.

If you are looking for beach time then I think Samui and islands around will be good in June.

A question like yours about where to go always makes me answer - Go to Kanchanaburi for 2-3 days.

Kanchanaburi is located 125 km west of Bangkok, and very easy to reach with like bus from the southern bus terminal. Make sure you buy ticket (price about 100 Baht) for VIP air-con buses at the blue counters. Air-con buses are leaving every 15 minutes and the trip takes two hours. There are plenty of nice and clean guesthouses, and a couple of good hotels.

The city is mainly famous for the historic sites from World War II like the Bridge over the River Kwai, the War Cemetary with 7000 headstones for allied soldiers who died during the Japanese occupation building the bridge and the 'Death Railway'. Take a trip on the railway and enjoy the beautiful sights along the river - and the exciting moments crossing some wooden bridges on the trip. Go visit the Tiger Temple half an hour's trip from the city and watch the monks with the tigers - and have a chance yourself to pad the tiger on the head. Hike the beautiful seven steps of the Erawan Waterfalls 60 km north of the city - and bring your swim suit to have a dip in one of the ponds by each step. - And plenty of things to do in the city like eating good and cheap food at the night food market by the bus station, and make a good bargain at the local night market by the train station - and many other things to see and do.

June is supposed to be the start of the rainy season in central Thailand. But you may easily have a week with no rain - or at least just a heavy shower in the afternoon.

Have you stayed on the Jungle rafts? I have been treatening to do it for a few years but seem to miss it every time.
