Default That’s it we’re off to Phuket!

Well we are leaving Perth Good Friday morning for a week of R&R in Phuket, and while looking forward to it immensely, I must say I’m not sure what to expect.

I have to say that some of my apprehension has a lot to do with going in a little blind, which is very unusual for me, given I always try to find out as much as I can about all the “new” places we visit, and having only been to Phuket for the one day back on the old Gemini in the mid 90’s, I was rather hoping that this travel forum would be of assistance in that respect.

Unfortunately I have to say that with the exception of a couple of posts most of my questions have gone unanswered, don’t know why, maybe because they were the same old questions that people have gotten sick and tired of answering or what, I don’t know.

However it has been my policy that no many times I am asked about anything to do with travelling I always give an answer when possible, as I feel that this repays the numerous times I have been assisted in the past, and that helping people to maximise their holiday experience can only be a good thing.

Anyway never mind, we will press on regardless, to the couple of you that did respond my sincere thanks.

Regards, Bruce

Hi,I havent been to Phuket for about 10 years but make sure you have transfers from the airport to the beach area as it is quite a distance.
If the traffic hasnt become like other places in Thailand then hire a scooter and ride back into town, the hill you have to climb is a bit hair raising but a real experience.

I am also from Perth but forgot to fill in my details when I joined a few days ago.

Are you having a stop over in BKK on the waay home?I couldnt go to Thailand without at least 3 days in BKk,its a great city once you find your way around.

Have a great time.

Den

Hi Bruce,
If you google Phuket Secret Beaches there is some information in there in regard to snorkelling from beaches.

Bruce
Have a wonderful holiday ... enjoy those fabulous pools at the Merlin Beach. The haggling system is a little different to Bali... the stall holder asks you to put in your price on a calculator and you go from there.

Jax... you have a fab time too on your extra looong Thai sojourn and hope you find a nice drop of red to your liking at a good price.

We are off tomorrow Good Friday too ... to Bali.

Everyone have safe trips and looking forward to reading about all your travels.

Cheers Geri

Fishtaco ... you can add to your profile by going into FAQ and down to user maintenance and then change it. You can also add an avatar, signature etc. I only discovered this by fiddling around and finding it. Its actually quite amazing what you can do on this forum! Mark is a very clever cookie isnt he?!

Bruce ... did you have a look at cathy and garys site? It has some good info on lots of asian countries. Have a great trip and lookin fwd to reading your JBR (juicy big read) or (just bloomin riveting) OR (just back report!!!) This time tomorrow you will be on the plane or about to get on the plane - how exciting!
