Not at all. I've been told back in the 60's & 70's it was mainly Thai men who patronized these shows but today they exsist virtually for tourists.
As Den mentioned back in Aust' (and in most countries I should imagine) these shows are considered a must for visitors to Bangkok, right up there with the Grand Palace and the Floating Market, and many travel agents include a ping-pong show as part of a Bangkok "After Dark" tour. But it does amuse me (and I make this comment in general; it's not directed at you Fio) to hear Thais claiming farang responsible for the sex industry. What we see, the farang-patronized go-go bars at Pattaya, Phuket & Bangkok, Patpong & the ping-pong shows is the tip of the iceberg of what's out there for Thai men: the bathhouses, the ST hotels, the rong-nam-chas, the karaokes, the shanty-town brothels, the Thai-style coffeeshops/bars, the escort services & dial-ups...
By the way, where did you catch the Frog Show? I've never seen that one. |
