I also agree with this line of reasoning. However, I'm starting to feel that Thailand is not providing tourists with sufficient protection. The local police know who the ratbags & scumbags are in the community, and in my opinion they should be doing something about it rather than sitting around drinking mehkong and laughing. The Thai man who stabbed this Swedish girl to death was a known pervert. And as I said in another post, he'll be released in a couple of years. Killing farang is not considered a serious crime in Thailand.

WOW!!! Even Thais are starting to see the light. From Bangkok Post Postbag March 25, 2008

Re: "...the rising occurrence of lives taken in our land by our nationals from our guest visitors...I would initiate a national campaign reminding all Thais to remember that our visitors are our guests, not our victims. I would introduce a bill in parliament to have all crimes against tourists and non-Thais punishable by mandatory maximum sentences. That would really get the message across that visitors are our guests."
