I don't mean to sound aggressive and I'm not sure what you mean by "Blue peter badge". However I do strongly disagree with some of your statements about Ko Samet...particularly your assertion that it's the only island that hasn't been spoilt too much. Go and check out somewhere like Ko Ngai before too many resorts get built there too and get back to me on that one.
The fact that Ko Samet is classed as a national park is a joke. Have you walked along the coastal path? Note the huge piles of polystyrene and other unbiodegradable trash that's been dumped in the wooded areas. There are also persistent rumours that raw sewerage gets pumped into the sea every night. The coral reefs are all but totally destroyed. Sand is taken from the beaches and used for the never ending construction work....see how little sand is left on Candlelight beach for example....is that what you call unspoilt?
And why do you recommend the busiest tackiest beach on the island to someone who says "i want somewhere quiet and beautiful, away from the crowds" when there are other slightly quieter beaches on Ko Samet?
Very strange and somewhat misleading.
Bobmac's suggestion about the Sunset Village Resort sounds promising.... it's not very well known and not quite as easy to get to which always helps when it comes to escaping the hordes. It might be just the ticket .....even if they did have to import sand to make a nice beach...hopefully it wasn't sand from Ko Samet?
