Started to think now oh I am going to miss the grandkids. Never thought that I would feel like that....not that I don't love every morsel of them but that it would not affect me that way. waking up really early and thinking this time next week...............going to sleep and thinking only so many sleeps to go. Mentally going over and over lists in my head. Waiting for some big disaster to happen to stop us going. mind you I feel all those things when we are going for 3 weeks.
I was thinking this morning as I was making coffee, like you do. when we return it will be summer and we will have missed spring.
I needed to do this one and the money that we will spend is the resuly of two cashed in investments. We are either incredibly brave aor short sighted and fool hardy. this operation I feel has given me another chance and i want to embrace it.
Phew that was heavy for first thing in the morning.

That is the whole point of saving so that you can do something with the money! There is no point in keeping all the money until it gets to the point where health or other things stop you doing what you want to do as it's too late then.

This last few months Terry has been saying you save for retirement and as he is now semi-retired now is the time to spend it. That's based on the fact that when I retire my pension will keep us going so we can cash in some investments now!

Seriously though, think of the savings by not being in England (heating, petrol, food etc) so the costs of the holiday are getting even less. Let me know what you are worried about missing and I will put post some photos for you to look at to make you feel better.

All you need to do is post regular reports and prepare a huuuuuuuuuuuuge JBR and we will all be green with envy.

I recall someone saying "if only" were the two saddest words of all ( I think it was Meatloaf song) but it's right. Far better to say "I did it!!"

Sorry to be all gung ho but a very close friend died recently and it's made me realise that you shouldn't always play safe buit get on with living!!!

Default See you in Samui Jax!

We are in Samui from 12 to 22 May.

After much deliberation, we've booked Muang Samui again. We thought it was better to go back to somewhere that we know and like, rather than take a risk on an unfamiliar hotel. We plan to do a bit of scouting around this time, and have a proper look at other hotels in that area, such as Dara and Amari - last time we were there in high season and all the hotels were packed and then, like you, I had that awful bout of bronchitis/pneumonia, which really slowed me down, so we really didn't do any exploring at all.

We plan to make up for it this time though!

Your itinerary sounds amazing - you must be so excited ... and it's really not long to go at all - lucky you, but you deserve it!

See you in May
