Default when are the main school holidays in Australia

Ours are July to September. I just wondered when Australians were liable to travel with kids. The Scandinavians seem to have lots of kids with them whenever you go so they must be very liberal about letting them off school.

Sorry to all of you travelling with kids but we try to plan around school holidays to avoid them. Been there done that/

Hi jax

Nsw have just gone back from School holidays I have no school age children but don't imagine the next to be for at least another 2-3months. The longest ones are from Dec - Feb in our Summer..completely understand your reasoning our daughter is only two so we have a few more years up our sleeve to enjoy hols when we choose...well maybe when hubby chooses..hee!

Hi Jax
The Aussies have 4 terms and each school holiday period is a high season So as a rule we try and avoid them but we have found parents often take their kids out of school, holidays or not.
Here is the government website for all the country for State schools... the private schools often have longer holidays (yep! go figure)
School term dates 2007
Like you... we have an empty nest, but 18 months ago we took our 7 year old grandson to Fiji and loved it even though it was quite different to what we are used to nowadays. I love kids and can't imagine holidaying without children around... however, it only takes one little ratbag to spoil the peace and tranquillity around a pool. Thank goodness my ratbags have grown up and got ratbags of their own.
Cheers Geri

Default agree

I am with you I worship my Grandkids but just don't want everyones little darlings when I am away.

As such we try to avoid main holiday times but it does not seem to be working.

My Grandkids are on with my photos.
