Default Kata Beach Phuket

Has anyone stayed at Kata Palm Resort, Kata Beach Phuket ?
Whats the beach there like ?? Totally covered in deck chairs ?? Are there other restaurants and beaches in walking distance ??

have not stayed at the palm resort. but i do enjoy kata beach alot, make it there couple times a year, try to. there are chairs/loungers there, but plenty of open beach area for towel/mat relaxing. top of the beach, tho near road that isn't busy, provides some shade, tho not the best area to sit. it's nice beach, with usually calm seas, though past couple times there, i seem to be playing life guard, even stepped off a small bar into an slight under tow myself. used to enjoy it, as didn't have to pay to much attention to kid, but changed that opinion last couple times, but usually very calm. get some surfers in the center of the beach area. but plenty of room. couple decent restaurants right there. i'm partial to kata mama's, at the southern end. nice selection and price. if staying in the area, no need to venture to other beaches for relaxing or swimming. but nice to cruise around and see the others if having transportation. rent a motorbike if confident on your driving ability and defensiveness. it's a nice drive around southern end of island. just north is karon beach, nice, but seas can be rough and dangerous. both kata and karon have nice mix of things. if wanting extreme nightlife and all things touristy, keep going north to patong, which i kind of avoid, just not me. have stayed at sereene resort in kata, that was nice, quiet, couple pools and mediocre buffet breakfast. walking distance to beach and most things needed in area.

good luck and enjoy.
