Default Prescription Spectacles in Phuket?

Good people,

What is the situation regarding the purchase of prescription Spectacles in Phuket, are they cheaper than in Australia, about what is the cost of single vision ordinary, and the same as sunglasses?

If so how long does it take to get them made up, as we only have a week and get there on a Friday afternoon?

Can anyone recommend where to go, with our own prescription, or do we have to get tested there?

Any assistance will be very much appreciated.

Regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce
I paid $70 for a pair of readers in Phuket in 07. My eye test was fairly low key and I basically sat on a typing chair in the shop and a few lenses were tested on me until we came across ones that were clear. I ordered them and they were ready later the same day.
I also bought some more last October in Pattaya with same kind of test, my husband and I paid $100 each. I'd say they are on a par with Budget Specs.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Geri
