Default Exchange rate in Thailand??

Can anyone who is currently in Thailand let me know what the AUD is exchanging for at the moment? Im told about a month ago it was about 29 in Phuket but Im hoping it has gone up since then! Ive been checking on oanda and virtually there sites and its listing on there for nearly 29 now so should hopefully be higher in Thailand.

No, not higher than 29 in Thailand, not even 29. It was 28 something yesterday at the exchange booths in Chitlom.

Thankyou Kimbo - I knew I could count on your for a reply!!
Oh well... I guess 28/29 is ok. Its better than 26 which is what it was a few months ago.
So ... are you having a fine time there? Tell me what youve been seeing/doing? Much rain? Hot?

I left Hua Hin last Wednesday - yes, fairly hot down there, good for the beach. No rain while we were there (8th.-13th.)
We spent the past three days in Bangkok - quite cool there - not jacket weather but a bit cooler than usual for February and overcast in the morning - good weather for walking around, esp. if you're a fair way from BTS.
After arriving home last night, today has been spent doing what we all have to do when we come home - unpacking, washing the clothes and doing the supermarketing. Back to reality.
I'll post about Hua Hin later ........... too tired tonight and have to work tomorrow

Default 34bt - WOW!

Well ... Anthony ... I missed my calling! I should have been in Thailand a few years ago changing for 34bt! But ... I have only just started my Asian travels, and its just one country at a time for me. China is next! Cheers Kitty

Kimbo ... so ... you are home again and, as you said, back to reality. Although I always do find it nice (strangely enough) to get home, unpack and unwind. Well... Im glad you had a nice time (who wouldnt have a nice time in Thailand!?) Looking fwd to your Hua Hin post. Last nite I found another site (I think on Asia web) on Bangkok shopping - OMG I think Ill need to do a 2 week return visit just to get to see half the unreal places listed!!! Lots more Dept. Stores than I had thought - I think we will be pushing it just to see the few that are in our area. Plus, a friend of my sons highly recommends the Platinum Centre, especially for boys clothes etc. Do you know how far this is away from us (Novotel Siam Square)?? Is it walking distance or on Skytrain?
Anyway ... thanx once again for all your info. Ive put all the helpful advice and hints in my little travel journal ... so we'll see just how much of it I manage to fit in!

Ive just checked again with oanda and the baht just keeps going up and up which is great! Today it was 28.94bt = 1AUD so hopefully by the time we get there it will be about 30!

Check this website for exchange rates. As you can see, 29.15 at the moment for cash AUD.

Default exchange rates

Thanx for that steven. I note that travellers cheques have slightly higher exchange rate - would that be correct? Im taking half trav. cheques and half cash.
I also note that you are a dive centre owner based in Phuket - is that also correct??? Do you do day trips to phi phi island and phang nga bay?

Three weeks ago it was 32.60 baht to the American dollar (for $100 bills). Maybe you can equate that to the Aussie rate.
