Last year 2 couples from our group of nine had their cards used about 6 weeks after they returned home. They both used their cards to pay at check out from the hotel and both used them at Phuket Duty Free, the cards never left their sight at all. I remember reading what Steven was saying that they are tapping into the phone lines now.

We never use a credit card overseas now, only the atms and have never had a problem.

I was chatting to a lady the other day who had just returned from BKK and Phuket with her father. Her father's debit card had been used and thousands of dollars taken in dribs and drabs. He's notified the bank and had to sign a 'stat dec' to say he hadn't removed the money. They are all very upset about it and it has marred their holiday.
I'll update this post when I find out the outcome. Hopefully, he'll get his money back.

The old gentleman got all his money back from the bank, it took 7 days apparently but he got it back He had used a 'hole in the wall' next to a money changer.
It certainly put a downer on their wonderful holiday.
