Default Rose Garden in Bangkok

Hi has anyone been here? Doing a full day with Tong and going to the floating markets but need to decide what to do the 2nd half of the day. Been to Kanchanaburi (going later on again in trip), the old city, done the Palaces/Wats so thought this might be an alternative. Any comments or other suggestions?

Thanks

Karin

I'm in Thailand (Kan'buri) right now and have just visited Rose Garden within the last couple of weeks. It's a nice place, a big park showing houses built in different traditional Thai style, but the main attraction is the afternoon show which takes you through a quick trip in different Thai cultural lifestyle events such as a Thai wedding, Thai dancing from different parts of the country, real sword fighting, Thai boxing, elephants working, and more. You may also have the chance for a short trip on the elephants back afterwards.

It's a perfect combination to visit the Floating Market early in the morning (beware you are not ripped off there, prices are really higher there than many other places), and then visit Rose Garden on the way back in the afternoon, and most tour agencies are actually organizing this as a combination.

Have you been to the Saturday/Sunday Chatuchak Market, if not it might be an option. Chinatown and the Bangkok Flower Market might be other options. I'm pleased to know that you were happy with your last visit to Kanchanaburi and are planning to come back.

Default Hi Flebo

Good to hear from you again. Last year it was a bit of a rushed trip and so we decided to come back. I can not believe last year that I did not get to walk the bridge. Also I want to take a ride on the Death Train.
We went to the Bridge, Tiger Temple, War Cemetary (I still remember talking to that lady who I thought was your wife and that you wanted me to pass a message on - she didn't speak much English and kept on saying yes yes...turns out your wife was not there as she was sick),and what we thought was the War museum but which turns out it was not (the one near bridge ) so we will go to the real one up the river. Also went to Erawan Falls but because we were on a tour it was too rushed and we did not allow time to enjoy it. This time we will make our own way there and see things at our pace.

As for the Rose Garden it sounds like the go. We have been to the markets and will go again this time but minus the kids as it was too hot for them there last time and I ended up leaving the others and going to the motel.

Hope you are enjoying your time in Kanchanaburi....

Regards

Karin
