Does anyone have a good, reliable, honest driver in Samui they could recommend? I think we would consider staying somewhere a bit more peaceful and remote (ie not downtown Chaweng!) if we felt we could comfortably and safely get around and have a driver on retainer!

When we were there in 2006 we found the most adorable driver called Tawee, but sadly, when we returned in 2007, his mobile phone was not longer operating and we searched for him desperately but couldn't find him.

Would love to hear any recommendations and ideas of cost. We paid Tawee B1,000 for a half day shift.

Good to hear something like this about Mr.Tawee, I would suggest you asking from Car Rental companies around for free days of their drivers, like Budget or Avis.
