Default First timers to Phuket

We are thinking (hubby and myself) of trying Phuket for our holiday this year.
Have been to Bali, Penang, Langkawi so time for something different.

Can someone recommend some reasonable hotels for the 50+ that we are. Have been told Burarsari Resort. We are looking for something that is not too big and I guess more for couples rather than families. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also can someone give us advice as to the best time of the year weather wise to travel (going from Melbourne).

Lastly hubby is vegetarian (no fish, egg, chicken) - are we likely to have trouble with eating out for him.

Thanking you in advance for your help

Chris

Burarsari has lots of good reviews, a couple more that come highly recommended are Holiday Inn Busathorn wing, Club Andaman resort.

I never let time of year make a difference to when we travel, we have been to Phuket in low and high season and much prefer low season. (less people) So now we only go there June, July August etc. Hotels, flights, everything is cheaper and the weather has never been bad enough to spoil our holiday. Some afternoon storms etc but they are a welcome relief.

There will be no problem finding vegetarian food there.

Have a look at my link as theres some info on a few hotels and lots on things to do, eating and shopping.
