I am on the island right now. There are so many places to stay - literally hundreds - all over the island, at all different prices. A basicbeach hut with fan and cold water from around 350 baht to 1800/2000 baht for aircon and hot shower etc. If you want to stay right in Had Rin (which has its upsides, like you can walk home - and its downsides, like non-stop trance and techno at unbelievable volumes literally all night plus expect to pay big bucks if you want a bungalow on the beach or with ocean views), you might need to book in advance to make sure you have a bed. Some resorts at Had Rin can be relatively expensive, and resemble suburbia more than a tropical paradise. And the food costs more there. You might prefer to stay a bit further away and taxi in to Had Rin for the party, though if you want to go home before about 9.00 am next morning the taxis charge more. For mine, I would definitely stay further away - even Thong Nai Pan - because most places will boat or taxi you to the party. That way, you get the best of both worlds - party at had Rin and chill at your resort further away. Bear in mind that you can still hear the sound system/s up to 16 km away from Had Rin. Whatever you do, enjoy! It's a great place, or I wouldn't keep coming back here.
