Hey there

We stayed at Coral Bungalows last year for the FMP. It is on sunset beach. It is an absolutely awesome place to stay as it's a bit out of the way of the Haad Rin but it seems to be where all the backpackers hang out and we had A LOT of people from other resorts come and hang out at our resort. It's probably a 5 minute walk along the beach to where the ferry docks from Koh Samui which in in the centre of town (or near enough) and it probably took us 15 minutes to walk to the FMP (Haad Rin Beach - aka Sunrise Beach). The location was perfect and we'd definitely stay there again. The rooms are really cheap too. I think we paid about AUS$25 a night and that was in the peak season. The rooms are comfortable too. They have a Queen Size bed and a single bed (i.e. comfortable enough for 3 people). We had the rooms upstairs with air-conditioning (not the bungalows with the fans) and I'm glad we did as it was sooooooooo hot and humid in Koh Phangan compared to the other places we'd been in Thailand!

I would definitely recommend Coral Bungalows though. They have drinking games every night, there is a really relaxed atmosphere, the foyer/bar is constantly full, they have a communal area where you watch tv with the other guests (lots of football played on this tv) and then there's music blaring at night and they have a pool with a swim up bar! The staff are very easy going and take a while to do things but they get right into it with you and enjoy themselves just as much as their guests.

Seach google for Coral Bungalows - I think that's how I came across it. Also search the forum as I talk about it in my JBRs which are on the forum. And finally, I have photos of the rooms too and of where we all sat every night and had our meals and drinks. Seriously though, it's worth looking at but they are VERY popular and busy all year round - even when there is no FMP - due to the backpackers that have spread the word about them so I'd suggest booking early.

I hope that helped you.

Ali
