It goes without saying that The Beach by ALex Garland is one of the best books to read about Thailand - it's what the movie was based on but is one of the best books I have ever read and is very different to the movie.
Another book is called "Held". I have that at home. It is based on a true story and is a very eye opening read. It's about 4 girls from 4 different countries who get abducted and/or tricked in Thaialand and end up as hookers. It's a very well written book and a page turner.
Another book to read that is based in Thailand is "Thai Girl" which is about an English backpacker who meets a Thai girl in Koh Samet and the story goes from there. That book is an easy read and it's quite good too.
Check the website of the Bangkok Publishers. I did that when I got back from Thailand and it came up with so many books - I forget the name of the publisher though. I will look through my books tonight and let you know. There are a huge amount of books to choose from on that site though and are shipped to you rather quickly!
