But if you have a pretty generous budget check out the Laguna Hotels in Phuket. They are quite away from Patong, so if you want the shopping it's about half an hour away by taxi.
The Sheraton looked really nice.
We stayed in an apartment in the Allamanda, but would not recommend this to you as it's not on the beach and the pool was pretty average too.
You can catch the local little ferry around to each of the hotels in the Laguna complex. Elephant rides by the local elephant. Jet Ski, horse riding, kids clubs, great pools. I think it was the Sheraton's pool who had the water slide.
I would suggest you also do the ATV tour with your eldest two kids. Hubby took my 12 and 11 and 3 year old and they loved it, said it was a highlight of the trip. The hotel can organise this for you.
Another nice family night out is the Fantasea. Bit gimmicky, but fun for the family.

Also, just a suggestion have a look at the Surin Beach Resort. We loved this place. It's opposite the beach, a very nice beach .. but you have to walk about 5 minutes to get there from the hotel. Very peaceful location. EXCELLENT swimming pool for all.
You can book a 1 bedroom apartment an studio room interconnecting, so effectively turns in to a 2 bedroom apartment. Ask for ground floor as you have a pram. The local mini-mart does laundry too. Quite handy with a large family only and very cheap.
I did a posting on this hotel on Tripadviser dot com.
Good Luck and congratulations on your up and coming marriage.
