Trust me. Buy a property on land you can own with a generous "second home" visa (allows you to stay there as long as you like and not pay ANY tax on foreign derived income and even have your favorite maid come and stay there too) in Malaysia, and then go to Thailand on holiday. Thailand has so many foreigners living there pushing prices up and Thailand is really a nation of non-integration and there are so, so, so many land title disputes there that you really need to be careful. I love Thailand but would not buy there knowing what I do. We are looking at a place in Malaysia for ourselves right now.
