Hi Laura your husband will have to join as well,if you dont have an agent try ringing Emirates direct.I dont reckon much on your chances of an upgrade though I cant remember the type of planes we flew but they were all 2-4-2 configuration seat wise.Sydney-Dubai was a bigger plane but still same seating, coming home our flight was going on to New Zealand so there was a bit more leg room[longhaul flight]and we got a neat little travelpac.I never worried about an upgrade the service was really good most of our cabin crew were Aussies.If you cant pre book your seat you'll just have to get to the check in early thats what we have to do because most times in Australia you can't pre book specific seats.Good luck.
