We have been to Bangkok three times and have always stayed at the Shangri La. It is a beautiful hotel and you can get some good deals there. Five star service and rooms, upgrade to Krungthrep for a larger room and balcony. One pool for the main hotel, a smaller quieter one for Krungthrep wing. Staff are fantastic and it is right on the river, so you get the atmosphere (and all those noisy long tail boats !! haha). A few minutes walk away from both the boat station to go up and down the river, and also from the SkyTrain station.
We go in December again, cant wait.
