I have just watched an interview with the victim's father here on SBS TV in Oz, and it is unclear at this stage exactly what happened.
However, his father did say that he had gone to Thailand specifically to learn about gems, and that he was due to return to Australia within the next few weeks.
Even if it was a business dispute, that is most certainly not the way to settle the matter - with a hand gun.
There has to date been no reports as to whether the other party to the alleged dispute has been arrested.
