Every food and beverage outlet at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is world class John. I would be greatly surprised if you reported it to not being to your highest expectations.
If you have the opportunity you should also try the evening buffet at the same hotel, as I rate its fare as amongst the best and it represents very good value for money. However, don't bother going to either Saturday dinner or the Sunday buffet lunch as it is overrun with every Indian tailor in Bangkok and his family usually consisting of several screaming kids.
Both the Good View and the one next door - the Riverview - are good restaurants, with extensive menus, live entertainment and with the added bonus of being situated on the banks of the Ping River. Both are popular with locals and tourists.
Just take a tuk tuk across the river and say either Good View or Riverview and the drivers will know where to head.
The Good Earth is another recommended restaurant in CM and I believe it would be a venue that you would enjoy John, as you appear to favour up market dining. It does not get any bonus points from me in the value for money category, but it is nonetheless a delightful place for dinner, situated as it is in a beautiful old Thai teak house, with the gardens festooned with fairy lights.
If you go, book a table on the upstairs verandah for a romantic evening overlooking the gardens below.
